She is incredibly talented, creative, responsive, patient, flexible and, most of all, KIND. She is willing to create something special for whatever price range you have. It is hard to believe that she has enthusiasm for each wedding, each personal planning meeting, but she does. She continues to perfect the plan. WHOW...the reception centerpieces were breathtaking and everyone was standing at the doorway taking it all in. I thank her and it was a pleasure working with Ashland Addison. Her staff was efficient and professional.

Ashland Addison Florist Company in Chicago announces their Holiday Open House dates and Biggest Sale of the Season to be December 9-11, 2011 at four retail flower shop locations. The Open House helps kick off the upcoming holiday celebration and the stores will showcase beautiful decor ideas, gifts, professionally trimmed wreaths and hand-picked, locally-grown poinsettias. The sale consists of 20% off all poinsettia plants and select holiday merchandise - carry-out purchases only. Plus, an important food drive for local food pantries.

"Our Holiday Open House is a must this year," says Bill Sheffield, president and co-owner of Ashland Addison Florist Company. "This holiday season we are celebrating eight decades in business. My Grandfather, who started our family's flower business in 1932, would be very proud of where we're at in 2011. I know we'll see many new customers and familiar faces at our retail stores at this fun event."

In addition to the Biggest Sale, the company invites customers to bring in non-perishable food items for local food pantries in Lakeview, Elk Grove Village and Westchester. Each person who brings in a donation to help feed the area's hungry will receive a valuable coupon for their next visit at Ashland Addison Florist Company.

"Our food drive last year was a huge success," says Sheffield. "This year, I look forward to making an even larger donation to our local pantries on behalf of our generous and caring customers."

Finally, the fourth-generation business has something else to be thankful for this year. A Good Neighbor Day Success!

We were excited to have celebrated our 13th FTD Good Neighbor Day this year on the first Wednesday of September. In celebration, we handed our 10,000 FREE roses throughout Chicagoland... but with a catch: we encouraged everyone who received a FREE bouquet to keep one for themselves and hand the others away to make new friends and help us make 10,000 people smile!

Also, we 'greenified' our Good Neighbor Day efforts around at our retail locations. We encouraged Chicagoland to bring in old vases and containers in exchange for their FREE roses! So, we thought we'd reach out and try something green this summer and invited Chicagoland to take part in our “Reuse/Recycle and Get Green"program. Simply, it's our invitation to our customers to bring in their old vases and containers in exchange for green plants and “green” cash donations to charities.

This program has already received HUGE response! Hundreds of vases have come through our doors, and we’re carefully selecting the containers that meet our quality standards to go back into consumers hands. Also, we’re ensuring that the unusable pieces are being recycled. Our staff has already made several trips to our local recycling facility down the street from our Fulton location! We’ll ensure that even if your old containers are not reusable that they are recycled!

Keep it up!
It’s so easy! Simply bring your glass, ceramic and wicker containers to any Ashland Addison Florist location. For every five reusable containers brought in at one time, customers will receive a green plant and will have a $3.00 donation made on their behalf to one of the following charities.

Catchin' the Green Bug

We're thrilled. We caught the green bug and now our customers are, too!

We launched our first ever reuse/recycle campaign for Chicagoland—and giving out green plants and making donations to local charities! It's an easy way for our customers to turn their old vases, ceramics and baskets into GREEN…green plants and green cash donations to local charities!

“One of the things we hear is that people have vases, baskets or ceramics from flowers they have received piling up in their basements, under their sinks, in closets… and they feel guilty just throwing them out,” says Bill Sheffield, president and owner. “It’s time to help out and get these glass, wicker and ceramic containers reused or recycled! So, in exchange for people turning in their old stuff, we’re giving out green plants to bring more ‘green’ into homes. Plus, we wanted to do more, so we’re making financial ‘green’ donations to important local organizations.”

Being Green Has Never Been Easier!
It’s so easy! Simply bring your glass, ceramic and wicker containers to any Ashland Addison Florist location in July and August. For every five reusable containers brought in at one time, customers will receive a green plant and will have a $3.00 donation made on their behalf to one of the following charities.

*Rush University Medical Center www.rushcampaign.org

Ashland Addison Florist will evaluate each container to see if it is able to be reused and filled perfectly with amazing fresh blooms again. For containers that are not able to be reused, they will be recycled. Donations to the local organizations will be made in September after the reuse / recycle program is completed. There is the possibility that we will continue to accept containers throughout the year!
